Bells, drums and a bloody great wall!

Well Xi'an may well be less humid but it is still bloody hot :). The heat really hits you every time you come out of somewhere with aircon.

We checked to our Aparthotel about 2ish. Then spent the afternoon wondering around all the little lanes selling fake EVERYTHING and lots of souvenirs.

There were some impressing buildings to be seen also, the two central towers were the main. One for drums to signal all was ok through the night, or obviously warnings. Then the bell tower to wake everyone and advise all ok through the day

Being these are part of the original city the wall still stands that surrounded it for protection so took a walk along it. For a city wall this is much wider than most English castle walls and has ornate watch towers along the way and at corners.

The heat does make the walking tough going but who cares when you are surrounded by all this history :).

Off now to finish my washing and then dinner, before an early night.... we have a 7am start tomo to get to the warriors and then back to the airport for our flight across to Hong Kong.
